Astroglide Personal Lubricant Review

Astroglide Personal Lubricant Review

Your sexual lubricant can affect your sexual health, so it’s important to choose it wisely. It can help you prevent all sorts of infections, or make you more vulnerable to them.

That’s why, apart from looking at how well it glides, it’s important to check the list of ingredients so you can avoid putting any potential irritants near your vagina. Let’s have a closer look at Astroglide Personal Lubricant, to help you make your decision.

Texture: Runny

Compatible with latex condoms?: Yes

Sex toy friendly?: Yes

Pros: It’s a very popular lubricant because it does its job very well and it can be used with sex toys and latex condoms. On top of that, Astroglide is tasteless and odorless.

Cons: Some users complain that Astroglide can damage delicate clothes, so you have to be extra careful with it. Also, when I looked at the ingredient list I knew this wasn’t a vagina-friendly lubricant:

  • First of all, it contains glycerin, a compound that can trigger a vaginal yeast infection.

  • It contains Methylparaben and Propylparaben, parabens which are linked to cancer.

  • Another ingredient I don’t like is Propylene Glycol, which irritates your skin and vaginal tissue making it more vulnerable to a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, as well as some sexually transmitted diseases.

Verdict: Although Astroglide Lubricant can help enhance your sexual life, its ingredients are not suitable for the delicate vaginal area, especially if you’re prone to infections.

What lubricant can I choose instead?

There aren’t many all natural sexual lubricants on the market, and the ones I found come with some limitations (some cannot be used with latex condoms, for example). Some of the best options you can choose from are Coconu Lubricant and Sustain Premium Personal Lubricant.

Coconu is based on coconut oil, so it can naturally help you prevent vaginal yeast infections. It’s got only natural ingredients, but because it’s oil based it cannot be used with latex condoms and you have to use polyurethane ones instead. It’s not suitable to use on sex toys because it’s difficult to wash off.

Most users are very happy with Coconu, however, some complain that it’s not slippery enough. But the fact that it’s 100% natural and contains an antifungal ingredient, makes it one of my favorites.

Sustain Premium Personal Lubricant is water based, which means it’s condom and sex toy compatible. It’s got aloe vera, a natural antifungal ingredient which can help you prevent vaginal yeast infections.

However, it’s a bit expensive for the amount of lubricant you get and some users complain that it dries out too quickly. But water-based lubricants always dry out faster than the silicone based ones.
