Shibari Lubricant Review
Shibari Lubricant Review
Your choice of a sexual lubricant can make or break your sexual health. It can help you prevent all sorts of infections, or make you more vulnerable to them.
That’s why, apart from looking at its physical qualities, it’s crucial to check the list of ingredients to avoid putting any potential irritants down there. Let’s have a closer look at Shibari Lubricant, to help you make your decision.
My Rating:
Name: Shibari Lubricant
Ingredients: Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Carboxymethylcellulose, Pentylene, Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Diazolidinyl, Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
Texture: Thin, almost watery
Compatible with latex condoms?: Yes
Sex toy friendly?: Yes
Pros: Many users say it’s very slippery and stays like this for a long time without reapplying.
Cons: When I looked at the ingredient list I knew this wasn’t a vagina-friendly lubricant.
- First of all it contains glycerin, a sugar alcohol which can help create perfect conditions for yeast infections to develop.
- It contains Methylparaben and Propylparaben, parabens which are linked to cancer.
- Another ingredient I don’t like is Propylene Glycol, a compound that can irritate your skin and vaginal tissue making it more vulnerable to a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, as well as some sexually transmitted diseases.
Verdict: Although Shibari Lubricant can help enhance your sexual life, its ingredients shouldn’t go anywhere near your vagina, especially if you’re prone to infections.
What lubricant should I choose instead?
There aren’t many 100% natural sexual lubricants on the market, and the ones I found come with some limitations (some cannot be used with latex condoms, for example). Some of the best options you can choose from are Coconu Lubricant and Sustain Premium Personal Lubricant.
Coconu is based on coconut oil, so it can naturally help you prevent vaginal yeast infections. It has only natural ingredients, but it’s oil based, so it can only be used with polyurethane condoms and it’s not suitable for sex toys because it’s difficult to wash off.
Most users are very happy with Coconu, however, some complain that it’s not slippery enough.
Sustain Premium Personal Lubricant is water based, which means it’s condom and sex toy compatible. It contains aloe vera, a natural antifungal ingredient which can help you prevent vaginal yeast infections.
However, it’s a bit expensive for the amount of lubricant you get and some users complain that it dries out too quickly.
Have you used any of these lubricants? Do you know any other 100% lubricants that you can recommend? Please share your experiences and questions in the comment section below.
