What are the Best Feminine Cleansing Products?
When choosing a feminine cleansing product it’s very important to check the list of ingredients. Many feminine washes contain ingredients that may be irritating or toxic. The delicate skin around the vagina is prone to irritation.
Once irritated, the skin becomes more vulnerable to pathogenic bacteria and yeast which may trigger a BV or vaginal yeast infection.
So knowing the ingredients and avoiding them whenever possible will help you find the feminine cleansing product that truly supports your vaginal health.
My favorite 100% natural feminine cleansing product is Taylor’s Woo Woo Wash.
So what are the ingredients to avoid?
- Glycerin – it’s been linked to yeast infections as it’s an alcohol sugar which yeast can feed on
- Sorbitol – it’s also a sugar alcohol so it may encourage the growth of harmful yeasts that cause yeast infections
- Mannitol – sugar alcohol
- Xylitol – sugar alcohol
- Maltitol – sugar alcohol
- Acetate – an irritating and toxic ingredient, which may trigger an allergic reaction
- Propylene glycol – it can cause irritation
- Parabens – they’ve been linked to cancer
- Lauryl Glucoside – a sugar

Remember that your vagina is a self-cleaning organ and it does not need excessive cleaning with a different product to stay clean.
Use your feminine wash sparingly just to freshen the area up and make sure you’re very gentle to avoid micro-injuries which could make your vaginal area more prone to infection.
When it comes to keeping your vagina fresh and clean there is one thing you should never do: vaginal douche.
Vaginal douching rinses out friendly bacteria that protect you from vaginal infections and they make you more prone to irritation. You can read more about how vaginal douches can lead to a vaginal infection here.
